Day Camp

“Mackay Holiday Kidz 2020 is being run for the fourth year on Wednesday the 23rd and Thursday the 24th of September. The Day Camp goes from 9 am to 3.30 pm. The Venue is the spacious Apostolic Church of Queensland Hall and grounds on Sam’s Road, North Mackay.

The camp is open to boys and girls from years 3 to 9. The cost is $20 per day. Morning tea, Lunch and Afternoon Tea and all the Activities are included. Come either or both days.

The Theme this year is : ‘My Family, My Place. Where do I Belong?’ We will explore ‘Life’ and ‘Faith’ centred around the idea of coping with life’s challenges in relation to ‘Family,’ ‘Friendship’ and ‘Belonging.’

Activities include indoor and outdoor games, Craft Activities related to the Theme, Story Telling, Songs, Multi Media, a Talent Show and conversations around the Theme. There will also be Board Games, Card Games and other indoor games. There will be plenty of opportunities to socialize and have ‘Fun.’

A delicious Morning Tea, Lunch and Afternoon Tea will be provided.

Directors Profile

Chappy Riki has a background in Social Work, Education and Nursing. She has worked as an English, French and German Teacher and with children in Sydney awaiting Foster Care placement or with Special Needs such as emotional and behavioural problems. She also trained as a General Nurse at the Townsville Hospital. Her interests are in Writing, Drama, Music, Gardening, Cooking and Sustainability. Chappy Riki is the Chaplain at Northview State School where she has worked now for six years. She also works as a primary and high school Tutor. This is the 4th Mackay Holiday Kidz SU Fun Day Camp that Chappy Riki has directed.

Chappy Kari, who has a teaching background, has been a school chaplain for seven years. Her interest in drama and music is a real asset to leadership at a Kids’ Camp and her teaching skills especially with primary school children add a positive dimension to the running of a Holiday Program for kids. Chappy Kari currently works at St Lawrence and Clarke Creek State Schools, has previously directed a church-based Holiday Camp and has been assisting with SU School Holiday Camps for the past four years.
